Special Needs

Few challenges are tougher than planning for the future of a disabled child.  For many families, this issue is the focus of most family planning.  As the law of Medicaid, SSI and other benefits continues to change, balancing the need for these valuable government benefits against the desire to leave assets to or for the disabled child is a task that seems never to end.  With the advent of HIPPA and medical privacy, more families must establish guardianships in order to participate in the treatment of their adult disabled children.

My Special Needs services include:

     • Advice about special needs trusts, Medicaid “payback” trusts, and similar arrangements

     • Help with Probate Court guardianships, if they are necessary
